Summary
We're seeking a skilled and proactive Software Engineer with expertise in PHP and the Laravel framework. Your primary focus will be to ensure the smooth operation, continuous improvement, and long-term health of our existing Laravel-based application. This involves translating business needs into actionable technical tasks, maintaining high code quality standards, and proactively addressing technical debt to enhance performance and stability.
Responsibilities and Duties
Application Enhancement
Collaborate with Product manager, Designer to thoroughly understand the feature request requirement and system improvement needs.
Translate technical requirements into detailed technical specifications, outlining the scope of work, proposed solutions and estimated times for implementation
Implement the technical solutions you’ve defined, adhering to best practices for maintainable and simple code.
Leverage your Laravel expertise to build robust features, optimise existing functionality, and ensure seamless integration with the current application.
Application Operations and Optimization
Take ownership of system issues caused by application errors, promptly investigating and resolving them to minimise downtime and disruption.
Identify and analyse bottlenecks in the application's performance, particularly focusing on slow SQL queries.
Refactor and optimise existing code to improve response times, reduce resource consumption, and enhance the overall user experience.
Implement caching strategies, query optimization techniques, and other performance-enhancing measures as needed.
Qualifications
Strong PHP & Laravel Expertise: Proven experience developing and maintaining complex applications with PHP and the Laravel framework.
Database Proficiency: Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and query optimization techniques.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyse complex problems, identify root causes, and devise effective solutions.
Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ownership Mindset: A proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Bonus Skills
Familiarity with automated testing frameworks (e.g., PHPUnit).
Knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for full-stack development.
Experience with performance profiling tools (e.g., Xdebug, Blackfire)
